New Automated Carts for Oceanside Residents

The City of Oceanside transitioned from manual residential collection to a new automated trash and recycling collection system in 2012. The new collection system provides enhanced convenience for residents and increases recycling capabilities.

All residents are provided carts – gray for trash, blue for recycling and green for yard waste collections to simplify recycling efforts. The carts are easier to roll to the curb and hold more. Instead of having to separate bottles, cans and plastics from paper and cardboard as residents have done with recycling crates in the past, residents now place them all together in the blue recycling cart, making recycling much easier. The carts are provided at no additional cost to residents and there are several convenient sizes available for each type of cart.
