The corporate team at the Birmingham office of Irwin Mitchell has advised Telford-based recycling and waste management company Reconomy on its acquisition of Countrywide Waste Management.
The enlarged Reconomy group of companies will have a combined turnover of £80 million.
The move comes following successive years of high growth that has seen Reconomy enter last year’s CIWM’s Catalyst Corporate Finance top 10 fastest growing waste companies (based on 2012 and 2013 performance) and continued annual growth of 15 to 20 per cent for the foreseeable future.
The deal also included the acquisition of Countrywide’s subsidiary, MT Waste Management, based in Milton Keynes.
The newly acquired companies will, in the short term, continue to operate separately with no anticipated disruption to the day to day operations of both companies.
Rob Laugharne, senior associate at Irwin Mitchell’s corporate team in Birmingham said: “This is an important deal for both parties and together I look forward to seeing the combined business expand and build greater market share in the UK.”
