Sussex Waste Management

The hospitality industry produces a large amount of waste in the UK, and due to the sheer volume, unfortunately the industry only manages to recycle less than half of it. Hotels alone produce 289, 700 tonnes of waste each year and that is without taking into consideration the huge number of bars, pubs, restaurants, cafes and clubs across the country. (more…)

‘Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house, there was potential recycling that we shouldn’t throw out!
The house is never fuller than at Christmas; full with presents, decorations, wrapping paper, cards and food. But what happens to it all once Christmas is over? Did you know that in the UK alone:

  • An estimated one billion Christmas cards are destined for the bin after December 25th?
  • Enough wrapping paper to stretch to the moon will be thrown out?
  • 125, 000 tonnes of plastic packaging will go in the bin rather than recycled?
  • Six million trees will be scrapped?
