Lake County of Ohio, in conjunction with Waste Management Inc., owns and operates a municipal solid waste landfill near Painesville, Ohio. Independence Excavating entered into a contract with Lake County to construct a new 12-acre landfill cell for the existing landfill. The project required approximately 200, 000 cubic yards of excavation. There was also installation of 7, 600 cubic yards of embankment, 60, 000 cubic yards of low perm clay, all geosynthetics, all of the leachate collection system—including side slope risers, pumps, electrical and force main—as well as all the landscaping associated with the project. Additional work included storm sewer construction and road construction.
The Results
