Combustion Cycles

751 Motorsports - Motorcycle

We can talk to you about oil, sell you some oil, change your oil, or build the bike of your dreams to hold your oil! We do a little of everything, from vintage to contemporary, bone stock to wild one-off custom, focused on European & Japanese makes (but open to most others).

WE ARE AN OFFICIAL INSPECTION STATION FOR THE STATE OF NC & A LICENSED, BONDED DEALER.

History

Established in 2003.

Dave has been a rider most of his life and learned to work on bikes as a necessity to keep his old beater Honda CB750 running. He worked at a small independent shop while at UNC-W, then came back home to Chapel Hill and went to a "real" job before realizing doing what you love means more than a big paycheck. He worked for Gary at 751 Cycles for a while before venturing out and starting Combustion Cycles in his mom's garage. He moved to the current location in June of 2003 and has been spinning his wrenches (and his welding torch!) here in Durham since.

Meet the Business Owner

Dave is a Chapel Hill native, an avid dual-sport racer, and an all-around walking encyclopedia of motorcycle information. He holds a degree in Chemistry from UNC-Wilmington but has a passion for bikes. His current rides are his race bike (a heavily modified Honda TransAlp XL600V), a Honda ST1100 (also modified), and whatever bike might be parked near the door of the shop.
