Municipalities have turned to GFL Solid Waste Haulage Division to provide efficient and economical collection of their garbage, organics, blue box recyclables, bulk items, white goods and yard waste. With a young fleet of over 175 vehicles made up of rear packers, side loaders, front end service vehicles to collect 2 to 8 cubic yard containers, roll off vehicles to collect 14 to 40 cubic yard containers and assorted service and supervision vehicles, we can customize a collection system to meet the needs of your municipality. Curbside bag service, semi-automated and fully automated collection systems and customized programs for communities are options that can be explored and accommodated. In addition to a full range of collection services with 24/7 dispatch, we have added custom pricing, waste audits and environmental consulting to make us your full service company.

We are proud of the waste collection service we provide to the City of Hamilton. Our staff collects waste from over 80, 000 homes and over 350 Multi residential apartment sites 5 days a week. In The County of Northumberland we provide efficient waste and recycling collections. Also, we were recently awarded a 7 year collection contract for Durham Region, to collect residential blue boxes from 80, 000 homes. Here we grow again! In April 2008, we started providing recycling collection for over 160, 000 homes in the City of Hamilton.

City of Hamilton

In February 2012, GFL was re-awarded the City of Hamilton contract for service to begin April 1st, 2013. This contract is for the collection of waste, fibre & container recycling, organic recycling, bulk items, and leaf & yard waste for the City of Hamilton from April, 2013 until April, 2020. GFL has been the waste vendor to the City of Hamilton since 2005 and recycling vendor since 2008. We look forward to continuing our partnership in the community.

City of Toronto

GFL was awarded the City of Toronto tender in October 2011 for service to begin August 7th, 2012. The contract is for the collection of waste, fibre & container recycling, organic recycling, bulk items, and leaf & yard waste from approximately 165, 000 homes. The contract runs from August 2012 until at minimum, August 2019. GFL looks forward to strengthening our partnership with the Toronto community.

Durham Region – Residential Blue Box Collection

On July 1, 2007, the company started an exclusive contract to provide residential blue box collection serving the cities of Whitby and Oshawa. National Waste will service over 80, 000 residential homes and businesses weekly.

Northumberland County

On February 9, 2001 the company was awarded an exclusive contract to provide solid waste removal, recycling and transfer services for over 31, 000 households in Northumberland County. Northumberland County is located east of Toronto and consists of the municipalities of Alnwick, Brighton, Campbellford, Cobourg, Colborne, Cramahe, Haldimand, Hamilton, Hastings, Percy and Port Hope.

City of Sault Ste. Marie

GFL will be responsible for dual-stream recycling collection for the City of Sault Ste. Marie beginning in the spring of 2013.
