Waste Management - Recycling

The Tuscaloosa County Solid Waste Department consists of two (2) separate divisions: Solid Waste Management and Junk Law Enforcement. Each is a stand-alone department and staffed appropriately.

Solid Waste Management:

This division is primarily responsible for overseeing the county’s residential garbage collection service program. In addition, the division also serves as a focal point for illegal dumping, roadside litter, County Spring Clean-up, and recycling. Contact number for this division is (205) 464-8216.

Junk Law Enforcement:

The Tuscaloosa County Commission, under the provision of limited home rule, has enacted a “Junk” Law applicable to the unincorporated areas of Tuscaloosa County, which prohibits the accumulation of junk on private property. Contact number for this division is (205) 464-8226.

1. If you are new to the community you must go down to the Waste Management building to sign up for residential garbage service located at the address below;

3. If you have any problems or have experienced a missed collection of your residential garbage, please report by calling (205) 345-0112.

4. Bulk Waste collection for Tuscaloosa County residents is scheduled for each of the four County Commission Districts for one week per month. Household furniture, large appliances, grills, swing sets and the like can be picked up. Just call Waste Management, (205) 345-0112, to place an order for pick-up.
